Winnie’s recovery: URF medical intervention that save lives

Winnie, now 20 years, suffered from a rare disease that cut off blood flow to her feet. With lack of proper medical attention, the feet rotted and gradually fell off.

With no financial help, she was bedridden at home for over a year enduring excruciating pain. Winnie one time said, “I wish I would die and not be suffering like this!”

We met Winnie in 2015 in that hopeless situation. URF interviewed by buying Winnie a wheelchair, starting her on proper medication, and facilitating her medical expenses at a rehabilitation hospital in Kampala where eventually her legs were amputated.

Winnie received prosthetic legs and she now walks and back in school.
