Administrative & Fund Raising Internship

Uganda Rural Fund is seeking an organized and team-oriented intern for a non-paid internship position.  We are seeking an individual, who enjoys multi-tasking, a lively work environment and, above all, we seek an individual who will be passionate about our mission and education development in Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in general administrative office work
  • Assist with e-newsletter editing and distribution
  • Support major donor development and solicitation
  • Research and solicit partnerships with other organizations
  • Assist with special fund raising events
  • Assist grant writers in collecting desired information
  • Assist with proofreading websites and program related documents
  • Help administer the charity’s various fundraising programs
  • May involve corresponding with Ugandan team to obtain desired information
  • Other related duties as needed

Experience and Skills:

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher
  • Strong knowledge of the nonprofit sector or willingness to learn through research
  • Excellent organization and communication (both verbal and oral) skills
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy (detail oriented)
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment both inside and outside the organization
  • Manage time and meet tight deadlines
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required

Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing.

Location: URF Virginia Offices—Richmond, Virginia

Duration: Summer or fall 2009 (Start/End Dates Negotiable)

Time Commitment: 30 hours/week

Stipend: None/Unpaid intern
