Village Health Workers

University of Minnesota with the trained Village Health Workers

Health Outreach at URF is a model that prioritizes preventative care over treatment. To make this effective, we make services readily available at the village level.

We have partnered with University of Medical Medical students and a UK nurse to train Village Health Workers for each village who are carrying out health education and follow ups with the sick in their homes.

The VHWs assist URF nurse and visiting medical students in facilitating health talks and medical camps in villages that URF serves. Basic screenings are done such as taking weights and blood pressures for kids and adults.
