Child Sponsorship Program Intern

Uganda Rural Fund USA, Inc. (URF-USA), an international grass-roots non-profit organization aimed at creating educational and sustainable  development opportunities for AIDS orphans, disadvantaged youth and women in Uganda’s rural communities, is seeking an organized and team-oriented non-paid intern to coordinate growing sponsorship program.  We are seeking an individual, who enjoys multi-tasking, a lively work environment and, above all, we seek an individual who will be passionate about the well-being of children and about our mission.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the child sponsorship program:

• Design programs and outreach models to identify child sponsors
• Maintain communication with current sponsors
• Solicit new sponsors across the nation and internationally
• Research and solicit partnerships with major child sponsorship organizations
• Maintain the child sponsorship program database and the section of the websites
• Correspond with Ugandan team to obtain desired information
• Other related duties as needed

Experience and Skills:

• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher
• Strong knowledge of the nonprofit sector or willingness to learn through research

·         Excellent organization and communication (written and oral)  skills

• Maintain a high level of accuracy (detail oriented)
• Work cooperatively in a team environment both inside and outside the organization
• Manage time and meet tight deadlines
• Work independently with minimal supervision 

Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing.

Location: URF Virginia Offices—Richmond, Virginia

Duration: Summer or fall 2008 (Start/End Dates Negotiable)
