Campus Outreach Program Internship

Uganda Rural Fund USA, Inc. (URF-USA), an international grass-roots non-profit organization aimed at creating educational and sustainable development opportunities for AIDS orphans, disadvantaged youth and women in Uganda’s rural communities, is looking for a well-qualified, energetic and enthusiastic individual to serve as non-paid intern during the summer or fall of 2008 as Campus Outreach Coordinator.

We are looking for an intern who will work with the URF’s executive team at the Richmond that can help us:

  •  Oversee the formation of URF Campus Chapters across the USA
  •  Implement new programs working with Chapter leaders
  • Oversee Chapter awareness and fundraising activities
  • Complete other tasks as assigned. The intern will participate fully in the daily operations of the organization and will gain invaluable experience in the non-profit sector.

Experience and Skills:

The Ideal Candidate must posses:

§         Excellent organization and communication (written and oral)  skills

§         Interest in philanthropy, education, the non-profit sector and international development

§         Ability to manage time, follow directions and complete tasks in an effective manner.

§         Ability to manage a number of ongoing projects at the same time (multi-tasking)

§         A creative mind and ability to 'think outside the box'

§         A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher

§         Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment

§         Willingness to work at least 20 hours per week  

Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing.

Location: URF Virginia Offices—Richmond, Virginia

Duration: Summer or fall 2008 (Start/End Dates Negotiable)

About Uganda Rural Fund USA, Inc (URF)

 

URF is a 501(c)(3) charity that was formed to focus on creating educational and sustainable development opportunities for orphans, impoverished youth, and women in Uganda's rural communities. We support the Nazareth Children's Home for 17 kids, after-school program, women empowerment programs, youth leadership and community engagement, chicken project, piggery project, water and sanitation, and community outreach. The Hope Integrated Academy is an education initiative involving vocational training programs, secondary education, a community library, computer center (with free Internet services), entrepreneurship and leadership center, a science center with laboratories, youth resource center, and a medical clinic. All these services were previously not readily available to the community.
